ASYLUM 13 ROBUSTO CIGARS
CLE Cigars
Christian Eiroa, the youngest of three children, was born in Danlí, Honduras, in 1972. Just days after his birth, his family took him to the Jamastrán farm. He grew up in a house converted from an old school, which still stands today. By the age of 8, he was already helping move tobacco, setting the stage for a lifelong career in the industry.
In 1995, Christian returned to Honduras to immerse himself in the art of tobacco and cigar making. The Eiroa family farm, located in the Jamastrán Valley, is renowned for its advanced technology and adherence to strict environmental and hygiene standards set by Bayer. Christian and his father, Julio, personally oversee the fields to ensure they produce only premium, Grade A tobacco. Each leaf undergoes meticulous sorting for colour and consistency, with the Eiroa brand using 8,760 pounds of slow-cured tobacco. The leaves are cured for 16 months and then rested for 36 months to achieve perfection.
The C.L.E. Cigar Factory in Danlí has its own story. Originally one of two theatres owned by Christian’s grandfather, Antonio Kafati, Cine Aladino opened in 1975. It was later transformed into the CLE Cigar Factory, where Eiroa cigars are now crafted.
