In 1998, Jonathan Drew took a bold step and moved to Estelí, Nicaragua, aiming to revolutionize the cigar industry. With a handful of rollers, limited funds, and big ambitions, the legend of “That Wild Gringo” came to life. Trading a New York apartment for a mattress above a rickety factory and learning Spanish on the fly. His path was anything but conventional.

In early 2009, the torcedores were asked to cut back on smoking Liga Privada cigars, as their enjoyment was leaving too few available for export. While understandably disappointed, they channelled their passion into crafting their own signature blend.

Using many of the same rare tobaccos but with different vintages and primings, they didn’t just create a substitute. They crafted an extraordinary cigar, Drew Estate Undercrown Maduro Coronet.
